Chinese New Year

This year, Chinese New Year was very different for me. Since young, I did not help out with the preparation of the family reunion dinner but on the 25th of January 2009, I was known as the Assistant Chief.

Due to the fact that my aunt and my uncle’s health had been deteriorating over the pass two years, this year I had decided to help out. Since I was young, I had been wanting to learn how to prepare my dialect’s food. Food include the rice cake, Fuzhou Fish Balls, 红灶鸡 etc… though I may not be qualified as the family cook, I think everything must start from the scratch (Hope I am not too late to learn how to prepare my own dialect food). From the peeling of prawns, washing, cutting, arrangement of fruits, and also the lo he. It was a really fun but exhausting experience.

Finally, my whole family arrived. Once in a year, my whole family will gathered around for this particular event.
LO HE!!!

Asking the same old topic over and over again.

Jason,
When are you getting married?
Do you have a girlfriend now?
Do you know so and so was married last year?
Did you further your studies?
How much is your salary?
How is life for you in the last one year?

Sometimes those questions just get so irritating… …

Lion Dance

Other then the renunion dinner, the other special occasion for me during Chinese new year is the lion dancing. I had been in the Lion Dance Troupe since 1988 and i stopped training at the age of 15, 1999. Every year, i will still attend the yearly performance at Tanglin mall, Great World City and some other houses and shopping malls.
