First time In Uk...

I arrived in Manchester alone. Then joined the rest before we got on the coach.

The first thing when we get down, all of us start taking pics of our great accomodation

Went on the correct day... the memorial of the dying soldiers during wars.

Main cook is Sunny while all of us helped out with in the cooking.

View from my cottage during dusk.

Huddersfield university with my schoolmates. From my cottage to Huddersfield, the bus fare cost £1.80 each way. It is really very expensive for poor Singaporean student like me.

My best pal in nafa...

£11.50 for 2 set meal.

Sometimes in Huddersfield, it looks gloomy but at some point of time, they just look gorgeous and splendid.

In the morning, i'd actually woke up 6am in the morning to make breakfast. Fantastic experience...

It's always fun to work together... esp wif Sunny... she is so amazing... little can our singaporeans lady does such fantastic meals.

Phenomenon FOUND!!! initially i tot they are merely bird shits. But after arguing wif my frens (one of them says it's paint drippings all over the street), i realised that those are chewing gums. Shit... no wonder Singapore government banned people from chewing gums on street...

Some interesting natural sculpture....

Ba Hons Interior designing semester one

Acknowledgement

I would like to express my gratitude to all those who gave me the
possibility to complete this project. I want to thank the 3D Department
giving me the opportunity to do this conversation shophouse project,
to do the necessary research work and understand the heritage building
in Singapore.

I am deeply indebted to my Mentor Mr. Chee Leong and also those lecturers who
had been stimulating suggestions and giving me encouragement during all the
time this research study.

Lastly I would like to take this opportuniy to thanks my parent for giving
me the financial support.

The semester kicks off by asking all students to get ourselves an artist/ architect/ painter. The lecturer had chosen for me Piet Mondrian. In which, I’d create this 3 dimensional model which depicts the changes of art work through time.

During this bridging study, we were supposed to learn the different technique in doing a narrative story. Therefore, the lecturers cleverly chose a video, 'The Birdnest house'. After watching the video, they expected us to come out with 5 different sketches. Below are the 5 sketches which I'd done for the 5 different themes. Magical air well, lustful bedroom, mystical attic, drunkard stairway and surreal shop front.

After gotten our thoughts right, we started were ready to step into our design project. Conservation shophouse. First, we need to explore, do research and do site analysis to aid us in our project proposal. First of all, we did a group work. My group had did a video on Tan Quee Lan.

Bintan

BINTAN

Early in the morning and it was crowded at Tanah merah ferry Terminal. I was excited at the same time, quite worried on how much I am going to spend. It was supposed to be a budget trip. In a group of 5, we head towards Bintan.

When we check into our hotel, the first visitor which warmly welcomes us was the monitor lizard. It was about one meter long and it kept walking around hunting for food. Luckily, it was kind of shy and crawled away when we gotten near to it. If not, it might be ended up in our BBQ tray. LOL!

First stop: Check out the Room… … …

I never imagine myself staying in a resort with an in-build Jacuzzi and with the hibiscus bushes acting as the partition, it was simply so heaven-like.

After which, we went on and explore the resort…

Infinity pools were seen almost everywhere.

Went to Banyan tree for lunch. When I saw the price list, I almost fainted. Cause everything was in USD and the price is not much different from a high mid- high end restaurant. At the same time, I think that the environment, food, and the service are really worth the price paid.

One night stay in Banyan tree REsort Suite is USD 900-1500.

Evening time, we went for massage and to do some grocery shopping… the return cab fare from the hotel to the nearest market cost around SGD25 (RIP OFF) and it not worth the price to go there. Literally there is nothing to neither see nor buy. We justwent there for massage. This cost around SGD 33 for 1hour. I’m a person who is very afraid of ticklish so one hour of body + foot massage is kind of torturing for me.

DUSK

Night time sharpens heightens each sensation… Now it’s time to party…. BBQ… Wine, Milk Bath… What else can I ask for? This is truly what party is. But soon after the fire is start up, it started to pour. Poor Leslie need to BBQ in the rain. After awhile, we shifted our BBQ location but well it ended up in a mess. . .

Everything was so happily and smoothly carried out. Except when a 20cm long centipede. Worst of all… when the so call medic came, he only came with an antiseptic spray. This is a resort and this kind of accident is bound to happen. How could they not prepare for a specific kind of medication for insect bites? Luckily the centipede is not poisonous…

After we woke up, we realize that we had vandalized the balcony… … the BBQ tray was too hot. Crack the plate.

The trip finally end and realized that for that 2day 1 night trip, I’d spent SGD260 ( I didn’t pay for the hotel room charges). What a pricey budget trip… …
